Atletico Madrid secured a convincing 2-0 victory over Las Palmas in La Liga on Sunday, November 3rd, courtesy of goals from Giuliano Simeone and Alexander Sorloth.

The win marked a special milestone for Giuliano, who netted his first-ever goal for the club, emulating his father and manager, Diego Simeone.

The 21-year-old Giuliano broke the deadlock in the 37th minute with a clinical finish.

Nahuel Molina’s pinpoint long ball dissected Las Palmas’ high defensive line, allowing Giuliano to sprint towards the six-yard box and slot past Jasper Cillessen’s outstretched leg.

Atletico doubled their lead in the 83rd minute through Sorloth’s calm left-footed finish, following Rodrigo De Paul’s incisive through ball.

The victory propelled Atletico to third in the table with 23 points from 12 matches, having played one game less than second-placed Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, Giuliano Simeone dedicated his historic goal to the victims of the deadly flooding in Valencia, showing compassion and empathy.

He said: “I’m very happy for my first official goal for Atletico Madrid, but I also want to mention everything that’s going on in Valencia. For the victims, I send all my strength and support.”

The younger Simeone’s goal marked a proud moment for Diego, who has managed Atletico since 2011.

Giuliano’s emergence as a goal-scorer echoes his father’s playing career, where Diego netted 128 goals in 372 appearances for Atletico.

As Atletico continues to chase Real Madrid and Barcelona in La Liga title race, Giuliano’s goal-scoring debut injects optimism into the squad.

And with his father at the helm, Giuliano Simeone is poised to follow in Diego’s footsteps and make a lasting impact at Atletico Madrid.

Giuliano Simeone Journey with Atletico Madrid

Giuliano Simeone, son of Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone, made his debut with the senior side in a 0-0 La Liga draw against Granada on April 20, 2022.

However, his first professional goal came while on loan at Real Zaragoza, scoring in a 2-1 loss to CD Lugo.

After impressing during his loan spell, Simeone renewed his contract with Atleti until 2028 on July 21, 2023.

He then moved on loan to Deportivo Alavés in the top tier for one year.

Unfortunately, his time with Alavés got off to a rough start as he suffered a broken fibula and ankle injury during a pre-season friendly against Burgos CF.

Born in Rome in 2002, Giuliano’s football journey began at River Plate in Argentina before joining Atlético Madrid’s youth ranks in 2019.

Giuliano’s rise through the ranks was swift, with the young forward making his senior debut for Atlético Madrid’s B-team in January 2021.

He scored the opener in a 1-1 draw against UD Poblense and went on to net three more goals that season.

Despite suffering team relegation, Giuliano’s talent caught the attention of the Atlético Madrid coaching staff.

In 2021, Giuliano trained with the first team during pre-season, further honing his skills.

He then returned to the B-team, now in Tercera División RFEF, scoring an impressive eight goals in 11 matches between November and December.

At the international level, Giuliano was selected to represent Argentina at the 2024 Summer Olympics. He made an immediate impact, scoring in the opening match against Morocco.
