The Friedkin Group has reached an agreement to buy a majority stake of 94% in Premier League club, Everton.

The deal will be extensively reviewed by the Premier League, the Football Association, and the Financial Conduct Authority before it can be approved.

Friedkin Group spokesman confirmed the agreement with an official statement which reads: “We pleased reached an agreement to become custodians of this football club.”

“We are on securing the necessary approvals to complete the transaction.”

“We look forward to providing stability to the club and sharing our vision for its future, including the completion of the new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.”

The approval of the deal will be an end to Farhad Moshiri’s reign as the owner of Everton.

The American Iranian owner has invested heavily in Everton; however, the fans are not happy with the club, and they want new owners.

In June 2024, Friedkin Group had an agreement with Moshiri on the purchase of the club, but the talks to make that happen collapsed.

The two organizations failed to find a perfect agreement. This came after 777 Partner’s attempt to buy the football club failed.

In addition, American businessman and Crystal Palace owner John Textor also tried to takeover the club, but the deal did not materialize because the Premier League prohibits an individual from owning more than one Premier League football club.

The Everton side will become the 10th football club under the management of American owners.

A billionaire named Dan Friedkin owns the Friedkin Group. According to the Forbes list, Friedkin has a net worth of £5.7 billion.

Everton have not played in the Championship since the creation of the Premier League; however, they have lingered in the lower part of the Premier League in the last five seasons.

The Friedkin Group wants AS Roma and Everton to stay on top in the respective leagues.

The Friedkin Group has made it known that they want Serie A giant AS Roma and Everton to become on top in their respective leagues.

Even though Friedkin has agreed to buy Everton, the group is focused on making sure AS Roma succeed in European competition.

In 2020, The Group took over the AS Roma side and helped Jose Mourinho win the European Conference League with the club in 2022.

The management of the AS Roma side sacked Daniele De Rossi after just four matches in the game because of series of poor performance.

What Next For Everton?

The Merseyside Blue will play against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 3:00 pm WAT.

It is a must-win match for the Everton side that are currently in 19th place on the Premier League table after five matches in the 2024-25 season.

With the new owners around the corner, Sean Dyche is expected to start winning matches so that he can hold on to the job for more seasons.
