Bournemouth Vs Newcastle United: Newcastle United drew 1-1 against Bournemouth following late VAR drama that saw Ouattara’s stoppage-time goal for the visiting side overturned.

Due to Marcus Tavernier’s close-range finish in the 37th minute, Bournemouth has gone to the break with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United. The hosts showed more acuteness and threat than their opponents, especially through the very lively Antoine Semenyo.

The game began with either team in control of the ball, moving from one side to the other. Newcastle had an opening shot at goal when Alexander Isak’s attempt was neatly palmed off by Neto following a brisk move in the 13th minute.

Gradually, Bournemouth started wrestling control through patient buildup and high pressing upfield. Justin Kluivert and Semenyo came to life across both flanks, opening up space and pinning Newcastle’s defense deep.

In the 28th minute, Bournemouth came close to taking the lead through a long-range shot from Semenyo but it rattled against the crossbar. It didn’t take long after that for the breakthrough goal for the home side. Semenyo carried on before sliding off a pass to Tavernier, who coolly slotted it home to make it 1-0.

Newcastle then struggled to fashion any clear-cut opening. Much of their passing lacked precision in the final third. Meanwhile, Bournemouth kept the momentum, enjoyed possession, and probed for a second goal.

Bruno Guimaraes took a knock towards the end of the half, but he continued to play although showing clear uneasiness.

There were three minutes of added time as Newcastle tried to push forward, but the visiting goalkeeper was not really tested before half-time.

Bournemouth headed into the second half with a deserved lead, leaving Newcastle with plenty to ponder.

Newcastle United dominate second half

The second half saw Newcastle fight hard for a winner after Anthony Gordon’s goal in the 76th minute canceled a lead that Bournemouth had taken into the break.

Substitute Harvey Barnes whipped in a cross from the left, and Gordon tapped in from inside the six-yard box. Now it was Newcastle with the momentum, dominant in possession and most likely to snatch victory.

However, Bournemouth still threatened on the break. However, Dango Ouattara thought he had scored a last-minute winner in the 90+2nd minute, coming on top to head in from a Lewis Cook corner. The home crowd was sent into delirium, as they had seemingly secured an extraordinary victory. Sadly, the goal was disallowed for a handball in the build-up after VAR check

There were flare-ups in stoppage time when Joelinton was booked for a lax foul on Neto, to which Bournemouth’s bench was fuming. Bournemouth’s assistant coach was even sent off. The game ended with Bournemouth on the front foot but unable to find a way through Newcastle’s solid defense.

Both sides had their moments. Neto denied Bruno Guimaraes late on and Semenyo’s shot took a deflection, going close for Bournemouth. The visitors ended as the stronger side and actually had the better of the second half once they had gone behind.

It ended 1-1, which was a fair result in a game defined by fine margins with VAR decisions overshadowing the spirited contest.
