The 2024–25 Premier League season starts on August 16, 2024. The big teams are looking forward to winning the title with new players and managers.
Manchester City, who won the 2023–24 Premier League title, remain the favorite to win it again, with Arsenal likely to challenge them for the title.
These Are The Top Five English Premier League Title Contenders For 2024-2025 Season
1. Manchester City
The Blue side of Manchester remains one of the major Premier League contenders. A lot of fans expect the Pep Guardiola team to retain the Premier League title for the 2024–25 season.
The team always performs beyond expectations. Last season, Manchester City went on a 35-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Manchester City’s 35-match unbeaten record started after the game against Aston Villa on December 6, 2023, and it ended in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United in the FA Cup final on May 20, 2024.
2. Arsenal
Mikel Arteta’s team will be looking forward to staying consistently in the EPL this season in an attempt to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title for the 2024–25 season.
In the 2023–24 Premier League season, the Gunners challenged the Pep Guardiola men for the title until the final day of the English league.
However, Manchester City ended up winning the Premier League last season with a two-point gap over Arsenal.
In the 2022–23 season, Arsenal almost won the Premier League title but couldn’t survive the defeats to Nottingham Forest and Brighton, which cost them the title.
If Arsenal want to win the Premier League in the 2024–25 season they need to get beyond 90 points.
3. Liverpool
The Merseyside Reds will start the 2024-25 season without Jurgen Klopp for the first time since the 2015/16 season.
Former Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been tasked with the responsibility of taking Liverpool to the top of the 2024/25 Premier League table.
If Liverpool want to win the League next season, they need to maintain consistency. The Arne Slot men were top-notch in the preseason, beating teams like Manchester United, Arsenal, and Sevilla.
However, the fans need to be extremely patient with the Dutch manager next season the same way they were patient with Jurgen Klopp when he joined the club.
4. Chelsea
The West London side are expected to compete for the English Premier League next season with a new manager, Enzo Maresca.
Maresca’s appointment doesn’t really signify Chelsea will win the League next season. If they don’t end up with the Premier League, they are likely to secure a top-four finish in the 2024–25 season.
Last season was a bit of chaos, with the fans turning on the former manager, Mauricio Pochettino, and the players. However, this season will be a different ball game, with Chelsea likely to play more possession football.
5. Manchester United
The Red Devils were laughing stock last season. The club manager, Erik Ten Hag, was on the brink of being sacked by the club hierarchy, but he was offered a new contract after the club won the 2023–24 FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Ten Hag told the fans that the club failed to perform beyond expectations because of injuries. The manager needs to win enough games this season if he wants to stay at the club beyond the 2024–25 season.
Erik Ten Hag has been heavily backed by the INEOS group, and they won’t hesitate to sack him if the need arises.
