West Brom player Jayson Molumby punched an opponent player in the face during the pre-season friendly against Mallorca on July 27, 2024.
The game that was played behind closed doors descended into chaos before the end of the first half, where a fight happened between Molumby and Mallorca Samu Costa.
How It Occurred
Several videos that have been circulating on social media showed that Molumby dribbled past two Mallorca players and was challenged twice.
Samu Costa committed the second foul against Molumby. After the foul, the angry Molumby proceeded to exchange words with Costa, and violence subsequently erupted after Molumby took his forehead to Samu Costa’s face.
Costa retaliated by placing his hands around Molumby’s neck. The 24-year-old star decided to punch the player in the face for playing his hands around his neck.
The individual pushed themselves to the floor, and the other players came to separate them from the fight before it turned into a bloody fight.
The Referee failed to show a red card to the two players because it was a friendly match.
The West Brom midfielder, Molumby, was substituted for another player in the first half of the game.
However, there is no information on whether the club will take disciplinary action against the player.
West Brom went on to lose the match against RCD Mallorca after David Lopez scored a beautiful goal in the second half of the game.
Molumby joined the West Brom side on loan from Brighton in 2021 before he became the permanent player of the club.
The Irish midfielder proceeded to make 103 appearances for the West Brom side. The midfielder has scored five goals and created five assists in all competitions.
He is one of the most intelligent players in the squad with his creative ability and goal-scoring skills.
West Brom have now lost twice in their pre-season friendly to Bolton and Blackpool. West Brom have won just one match in the pre-season, which was against Peterborough, as they prepare for the 2024-25 Championship.
The West Brom team will be looking forward to securing Premier League qualification next season.
They missed out on the 2024-25 Premier League season after losing to Southampton in the play-off final.

Out of the seven goals scored, five were for West Brom, one for Brighton U23, and one for Milwall.
Molumby made his international debut for the Ireland national team on September 6, 2020, and proceeded to make 24 appearances without scoring a single goal.
