Manchester City and Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva has named three foreign players he would like to play for his country.

The sensational midfielder, who has won 89 caps with Portugal national team, is expected to play a big role as Portugal stage a challenge for the European Championship.

They are seeded in Group F of the competition alongside Turkey, Czech Republic, and Georgia, and are tipped to ease to the knockout and possibly win the competition.

The 2016 European champions boast some of the finest legs in European football, including experienced stars with gigantic records in the game. The team’s captain and Al-Nassr forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is a perfect example. The Manchester United legend is regarded as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, stars the game has produced. There are also top talents playing for top clubs in Europe like Joao Cancelo, Joao Felix, Goncalo Ramos, Bruno Fernandes, and others.

However, Bernardo Silva, who is a vintage star himself, revealed three players he would have loved to have as teammates in Portugal national team.

In an interview with ESPN, two Arsenal players made Bernardo Silva’s list including his former teammate at Monaco and Real Madrid’s new signing, Kylian Mbappe.

The Man City star’s midfield pick was Declan Rice, who has shone bright for Arsenal since joining from West Ham. According to him, he loves Declan Rice so much for his game and style of play.

‘I’m going for one midfielder, I’m going to say Declan Rice. I really like him’, he said.

On his preferred striker, Kylian Mbappe made his list. He said Mbappe is a great striker with incredible goalscoring abilities.

‘I would say Kylian Mbappe, definitely. I played with him and he’s a beast. I love him.’

When asked to pick a defender, Bernardo Silva mentioned Arsenal and French defender William Saliba. To him, the 24-year-old is a good defender and had recorded a great season with Arsenal.

‘I’m going to go with Saliba. I think he’s a really good defender. He’s having a great season.’

As he dropped his wishlist for his preferred players, Silva stated clearly he is not going for his Man City teammates to avoid the charge of being biased on his picks. He particularly mentioned Spain international Rodri as one of the players he would have loved to include in the list.

”I’m not going to say any City players so you don’t think I’m going with friends. Otherwise, I could have said Rodri or a striker or whatever, so I’m not going to say any team-mates.”

Bernardo Silva will be called to action with Portugal national team on Tuesday, June 18, when the Selecao will open their Euro 2024 campaign against Czechia before taking on Turkey and Georgia.
