Manchester City star has revealed why his side Manchester City pipped Arsenal again to win the 2023/24 Premier League title.

From a three-horse race involving Liverpool, the 2023/24 Premier League title race finally narrowed down to a two-horse race between Arsenal and Manchester City.

It went down the wires after Arsenal edged out Manchester United at Old Trafford and Manchester City defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

City headed into the final matchday with a two-point advantage over Arsenal and needed a win against West Ham United to clear the title.

It was an express victory for the Manchester-based league giants against the Hammers. Phil Foden struck twice in less than 15 minutes to set the pace for a crucial victory but West Ham pegged them back to 2-1 at the break, thanks to an incredible solo effort from Mohammed Kudus.

In the second half, Rodri extended the lead again for the home side and it would end that way with the Guardiola-led side winning the match to pip Arsenal again to the Premier League trophy.

It was the second time, Arsenal have been capitulated in the Premier League title race after a similar scenario last season but the Gunners put up a stronger showing this time.

Speaking after the match, Rodri revealed why his side Manchester City beat Arsenal in the title race. According to him, it was a matter of the mentality of the team, not managerial ingenuity.

The Spaniard buttressed his point by citing Arsenal’s low mentality when they took on City early in the campaign at Etihad.

A win for the Gunners at Etihad would have made a huge difference in the title race but Rodri said Arsenal only wanted a draw not victory.

“Arsenal did an unbelievable season but the difference was the mentality”.

“When they came here… they didn’t want to beat us. They just wanted to draw”.

Rodri’s take is just a side of the narrative to Arsenal’s failure to beat City to the title despite coming close twice.

Arsenal’s 2023/24 Premier League title hopes took a major blow when they suffered a home defeat against Aston Villa.

City capitalized on loss, acing through all their remaining fixtures to win the title.
