Manchester City star winger Jack Grealish has been handed a fine by magistrates after admitting to overspeeding in his £100,000 Range Rover.

What happened to Jack Grealish?

In July 2023, the 28-year-old England International player was caught by a mobile camera driving at 44mph in a 30mph zone in Wythall, Worcestershire.

Hence, the former Aston Villa captain was invited to appear in Worcester magistrate court on Wednesday morning, May 8, but he had to send his lawyer who entered a guilty plea on his behalf.

The aforementioned magistrate also handed Jack Grealish five penalty points.

One of the penalties the Birmingham-born was given was failure to give information relating to the identification of the driver. But prosecutors pleaded for the charge to be withdrawn after his guilty plea to the speeding offense.

Therefore, the magistrate handed the player a whopping £666 fine, he was also ordered to pay prosecution fees of £110, and a victim surcharge of £266, leaving with a total fine of £1,042.

The 28-year-old’s lawyer John Dye said he had been in court to apologize on Grealish’s behalf.

“Mr Dye said his client Mr Grealish means no disrespect by not attending the court. I am instructed to enter a guilty plea on his behalf about speeding,” Dye explains.

After confirming that the maximum penalty for the offense was £1,000, reduced to £666 after a guilty plea, Mr. Dye told the court: “He can afford to pay that figure. I am asked to apologize on his behalf. It was a mistake.”

This is not the first time Grealish will be fined for reckless driving. In 2020, he was banned from driving for nine months and handed an £82,499 fine for two counts of careless driving.

The first violation happened during the United Kingdom’s national COVID lockdown. He smashed his car just a day after publishing a video on social media asking for people to stay at home to maintain the NHS guidelines during the pandemic.

Jack Grealish’s contract and salary

The English winger’s contract with Manchester City will run until the summer of 2027, and he reportedly pockets £270,000 per week while he’s regarded as one of the most in-demand footballers by sponsors.

He has mouth-watering endorsement deals with outfit manufacturer Puma, a reported seven-figure contract with Gucci, and newly became an ambassador for Pepsi, also worth an estimated seven figures.

Financial reviewers forecast that the 28-year-old will have gained more than £100 million by the time he turns 30. But he has slight setbacks on the pitch for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, scoring only three goals and making 10 Premier League starts with as many appearances off the bench.
