The Santiago Bernabeu witnessed electric footballing action between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, with the game having all the thrills and frills of a classic UEFA Champions League affair.
Los Blancos experienced a magnificent turnaround late on, and that was enough to guide the club into the final.
Bayern Munich Took The Lead Against Real Madrid Following A Scorching Strike By Alphonso Davies
Bayern Munich had initially gone ahead in the 68th minute with a sensational strike from Alphonso Davies.
Harry Kane switched play out-wide to Davies, with the Canadian cutting inside from the right of Real Madrid’s defense.
The Canadian then fired an astonishing shot around Lunin, with the ball going in at the far post.
Real Madrid was utterly dominant at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Vinicius Jr having a good day 1v1 against Joshua Kimmich.
He had an attempt exactly at the hour mark, driving inside from the left side of attack for Los Blancos before hitting a powerful shot which was parried away by Manuel Neuer.
Modric’s Seeming Leveller For Real Madrid Cancelled Due To Foul In The Build Up To The Goal Against Bayern Munich
In the 71st minute, Luka Modric thought he had equalized for Real Madrid, however, the goal was chalked after Nacho was adjudged to have pushed Joshua Kimmich in the box.
The shot by Modric struck Bayern defender De Ligt before ending in the back rolling beneath Neuer and into the net.
Six minutes later, Jamal Musiala also created a golden opportunity for the Bavarian giants after evading challenges in Real Madrid’s midfield.
Musiala played the ball through to Kane on the edge of the area, with the Englishman dropping his shoulder to gain a yard on Antonio Rudiger, but he could only guide his effort into the side netting.
The drama increased late on in the affair, with Bayern Munich’s Kim rises highest to guide a header against the crossbar.
If a goal had come off the attempt it wouldn’t have counted tho, as the referee had spotted a foul on Lunin by Pavlovic.
Joselu Netted The Equalizer For Real Madrid
Real Madrid scored their equalizer 2 minutes before the expiration of the affair through Joselu, following a costly error from German shot-stopper Manuel Neuer.
Brahim Diaz had halted the goalkeeper’s long throw, and Madrid went on an intricate attacking move.
Vinicius cuts inside the area before firing a tameless attempt at goal which was expected to be saved easily by Neuer.
Unfortunately for Bayern Munich, it spilled through to Joselu, who sent it home from close range, bringing his side back into the game.
Nine minutes of added time was included to the game, and Real Madrid netted their second of the night one minute into stoppage.
Joselu was rightly positioned to receive a squared pass from Rudiger, and he fired the ball into the back of the net to score the clinching goal of the game.
The assistant referee had initially hoisted his flag signalling that the attacker was offside, but following VAR review he was deemed to have been in an onside position when the pass was made.
Activities in additional time resulted in stoppage time extending past the 9th minute mark initially stipulated, with the play allowed to go on till the 15th minute.
Bayern Munich Felt Hard Done By After De Ligt’s Goal Wasn’t Awarded
Bayern Munich thought they had gotten the leveller through Matthijs de Ligt in the 13th minute of added time after the Dutchman directed the ball into the bottom corner.
However, the flag went up early against Mazraoui, before Muller headed the ball into the path of de Ligt, with the whistle already blown and as such VAR couldn’t review the incident.
The audience following the game had the opportunity to look at it on more than one occasion, and it appeared Noussair Mazraoui was actually onside, with Bayern Munich displeased by the decision.
Real Madrid extend their unbeaten run in a competitive game against the Bavarian giants to 9 matches, having last lost to the German side 2-1 in April 2012.
