Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed he has settled scores with his player Mohamed Salah after their infamous touchline spat during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United in the Premier League.
Klopp lost his cool on Salah after the latter seemed to have snubbed his handshake and dilly-dallied when he was about to be subbed on.
The duo descended into a bitter verbal exchange with Salah menacingly remonstrating in the direction of the soon-to-be-leave manager.
After his 11-minute shift, it could be gleaned the pair shared no love lust with Salah furiously storming past the 56-year-old into the tunnel.
Klopp played down the incident after the match but a furious Salah dropped a bombshell when asked about the incident. The Egyptian forward refused to speak, saying if he spoke there would be fire.
From the foregoing, it was obvious the two were not in terms in the dressing room. Sources close to the club revealed a beef has been building between Salah and Klopp after the former started losing his starting role amidst the Reds’ dwindling fortunes.
Meanwhile, after the ugly scenery, it was understood the pair would be involved in showdown talks in Liverpool’s training session ahead of their next fixture to thrash out their differences.
Now, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed a peaceful resolution has been brokered after the showdown talks.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, Klopp said there is nothing between him and Salah as they have immense respect for each other. He went on to add all issues have been resolved and they are fine moving forward.
“It’s completely resolved, no problem between us”.
“If we didn’t know each other that long, I’m not sure how we’d deal with it. But we respect each other so it’s really no problem”.
“We are absolutely fine with it, so let’s move on.”
Having lost bearing in the Premier title race following a run-in of dismal results, Liverpool will return to Premier League action against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, May 5.
Mohamed Salah has been benched twice in his last three matches for the club, and it is yet unclear whether he will be back to the Reds’ starting lineup.
It is understood Klopp dropped him to the bench due to his dip in form, hence he is more likely to continue on cameos off the bench despite the brokered truce.
