Lionel Messi stole the spotlights again as Inter Miami ended their winless deadlock with a dramatic MLS victory over Sporting Kansas City at the Arrowhead Stadium.

The Argentina footballing sensation and Barcelona legend was on target as the Herons edged out Sporting Kansas City to return to winning ways after a five-match winless run.

Sporting Kansas City had gone into the lead just six minutes into the game through Thommy before Gomez netted the equaliser, thanks to a world-class assist by Lionel Messi.

In the second half, Messi came up clutch again for the Herons when he scored a stunning goal from outside the box to give Inter Miami the lead.

Picking a pass close to the Kansas City box, Messi refused to advance forward despite a swarth of space forward. He steered himself to safety and then switched to his lethal left foot before letting fly a thunderous long-range strike which flew into the top corner to make it 2-1 for the visitors.

It was a sensation of a goal and one for the many in the Argentine’s crazy collections.

Seven minutes after the goal, Thommy rose to the occasion again for Sporting Kansas City, scoring to chalk off the lead but Messi’s South America compatriot and fellow Barcelona legend Luis Suarez returned the Herons to the lead again 19 minutes before regulation time.

Inter Miami ran out with a deserved 3-2 victory after the final, thanks to Lionel Messi’s crazy assist and stunning goal.

The former PSG star has now recorded 10 goal contributions – 5 goals and 5 assists – in his 5 MLS appearances for Inter Miami this season.

He will be hoping to continue on his prolific form as Inter Miami brace for the next MLS fixture against Nashville on Sunday, April 21.
