Recall we reported that Anthony Taylor was demoted from the Premier League to the Championship due to bad officiating.

Well, he has made the news for the wrong reasons once again, after he made an error during the Championship match between Preston North End and Coventry.

Taylor, 45, was recently under investigation following a startling penalty judgment he made during Wolves vs. Newcastle in the Premier League. The mistake gave the visitors a game-changing spot kick, and the decision sparked strong criticism.

Taylor was temporarily demoted to the Championship in the hopes that he would be able to perform better under less severe scrutiny due to the outcry from the decision against Wolves and other errors he made.

But Anthony Taylor seems to have carried on with his blunders after giving Preston a vital spot kick against Coventry with yet another erroneous penalty ruling.

The video of the penalty incident involving Anthony Taylor made rounds on social media following the match with fans calling out the referee.

While some fans did not express surprise at Taylor’s refereeing, others demanded that he steps down from the position or be fired for his incompetence.

Following the penalty incident, Preston won the game 3-2, and Coventry slid to 16th position in what they will likely view as an injustice.

This season, Taylor is not the only Premier League referee to be demoted to the Championship due to erroneous decisions.

After mistakenly ruling Luis Diaz’s goal offside during the much-discussed VAR controversy when Liverpool played Tottenham in north London in October, Adrian Holmes was demoted to run the line during Millwall’s home game against Hull in the lower league.
