Ajax Amsterdam fans have come out in large numbers to pay tributes to a former midfielder, Donny van de Beek, who recently moved to Manchester United.
This could be because the talented midfielder, who had served the club for 13 years didn’t get a befitting send-off due to the COVID-19 pandemic that led to the cancellation of last season Eredivise.
The fans gathered outside the stadium chanting his name to show their support for the 23-year-old. Van de Beek was on international duty when he signed for United and featured for The Netherlands in their Nations League defeat to Italy on Monday night.
In reciprocating the respect, van de Beek, who could have joined Real Madrid last season addressed the fans, telling them the club will forever remain in his heart.

It’s apparent that COVID-19 already has a massive effect on the fans in the recently concluded season. They have not been able to watch their favourite players and team play live from the stand.
So, the Ajax fan does their normal ritual by chanting the club song and even van de Beek’s with fireworks renting the air.
Indeed, the Manchester United midfielder got a befitting farewell.

Donny van de Beek begins training with Manchester United
Meanwhile, the new signing has reunited with his new team and he is set for his first training ahead of the Premier League opener.
He was pictured arriving at Manchester United’s training ground for the first time after arriving the club last week on a five-year contract with the option of an additional year in a deal that cost £34.6m transfer from Ajax.
The former Ajax player and his agent both flew to Manchester on Tuesday. and he is expected to meet his new United teammates for the first time on Wednesday morning after he was pictured arriving at the club’s Carrington training complex.
Barring any injury, van de Beek could make his first United appearance this weekend when they face Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly match before beginning their Premier League campaign at home to Crystal Palace.
