Aaron Ramsdale of Arsenal has expressed his concern about losing his spot as first-choice goalkeeper for England.

Ramsdale has lost the No. 1 spot to Everton goalie and former national team first-choice goalie Jordan Pickford.

This can be linked to his situation at Arsenal, with on-loan shot-stopper David Raya relegating him to the bench.

Aaron Ramsdale has reiterated his desire to get back into the first XI of Arsenal, and as such, give national team manager Gareth Southgate, a selection headache.

The 25-year-old seemingly lost his place in the first eleven of Mikel Arteta, after he was dropped from the Gunners’ Premier League game against Everton on September 17, 2023.

Despite manager Arteta claiming that his reason for interchanging both goalkeepers was all due to tactical reasons, it is worth noting that the handwriting on the wall is becoming ever so visible.

He last featured for Arsenal in a 1-0 Carabao Cup win over Brentford on September 27, 2023.

Aaron Ramsdale joined the Gunners from Sheffield United on August 20, 2021, for a fee of €28 million.

Ramsdale ended the 2022/23 Premier League season, with an impressive 14 clean sheets in 38 appearances.

Both goalkeepers have identical patterns of goalkeeping but Raya is more composed on the ball and he is also less prone to errors.

Aaron Ramsdale wants to get back his goalkeeping spot at Arsenal

Speaking in an interview with Daily Mail, Aaron Ramsdale said: “Concerned about losing my place in the England squad? Yes, of course, it’s the first time I have found myself in this situation.

“I want to get back into my club team.

“I want to give the manager a headache rather than just have Pickford as No 1”.

Before he lost his spot in the first eleven of Arsenal, he had made 4 appearances for the club and kept one clean sheet.

Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale has shared an exposé into his relationship with on-loan goalkeeper David Raya.

Raya joined Arsenal from Brentford on a loan deal until the end of the 2023/24 season, for a fee of £3 million.

David Raya has made 4 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s side since he broke into the first eleven, and he has kept 3 clean sheets in the process.

The Gunners have the option to make his loan deal permanent next summer if they wish to, but they would have to spend £27 million to make that happen.

Despite dropping to the bench due to the exploits of David Raya, the Englishman has revealed that when he is feeling perturbed, Raya offers him the needed support and backing.

Aaron Ramsdale said: “We work professionally really well together. We push each other in training.

“There’s days where I come in and I’m down because of the situation and he picks me up. I’d do the same for him. We support each other.”
