Bruno Guimaraes’ new contract with Newcastle United reportedly has a secret clause that allows him to join Spanish club Barcelona at a reduced price.
Guimaraes signed a five-year contract extension with the Magpies on October 7, 2023, which runs until June 30, 2023.
Bruno Guimaraes’ new contract includes a release clause of £100 million, however, there are reports in Spain indicating that Barcelona could sign him for a lesser price if they are interested in getting his services.
They claim that this clause will enable the Brazilian to sign for Barcelona for around £60 million, £40 million less than his release clause.
Guimaraes has apparently given the green light to the Blaugrana side in the past, but their current financial constraint means a move doesn’t look feasible for the time being.
These reports emanating from Spain claim that there is a release clause for Guimaraes and a lesser release clause for Barcelona.
The 25-year-old has made 68 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 11 goals and providing 8 assists across all competitions.
Bruno Guimaraes joined the Magpies from Olympique Lyon on January 30, 2020, for a fee of €42.1 million.
Guimaraes appears to be focused on Eddie Howe’s side, and he isn’t keen on a move away from Newcastle United.
Speaking in an interview with Newcastle United after putting pen to paper on a contract extension, the Brazilian expressed that he is delighted to be playing for the club.
