Aleksander Ceferin: UEFA President Offers Condolences to Victims of The Israel-Gaza Crises

Aleksander Ceferin, the UEFA President, had offered condolences and shown profound sorrow over the ongoing war between Israel and Gaza.

Aleksander Ceferin made this remark on behalf of the European football community, saying, “On behalf of Uefa and the European football community, I am writing to express our profound sorrow upon learning about the tragic acts of violence that occurred last week in Israel, resulting in the loss of innocent lives.”

“My heart goes out to all the victims and their families during these difficult times. It is an unimaginable tragedy, and the pain and sorrow are profound and resonate across the entire football community.

“We sincerely hope no one will ever again experience such grief. My friend, I pray for these deep wounds to heal and for a world where such senseless acts of violence have no place.”

In a bid to show solidarity for the deceased as a result of the war, England and Australia have agreed to observe a minute of silence before the start of their match at the Wembley stadium on October 13, 2023.

Also, due to the fear that they are likely to receive heavy backlash, the football association will not light up Wembley Stadium in the match between England and Australia.

In addition, Israel won’t allow its national team to travel out of the country for the 2024 Euro qualifiers against Kosovo. Hence, the game which was scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 15, has been postponed untill further notice.
