Erling Haaland is confident of breaking the all-time scoring record for the Premier League set by Alan Shearer.

Haaland joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund on July 1, 2022, for a fee of €60 million.

The Norwegian attacker has been menacing in front of goal for the English club and his attacking contributions led to Pep Guardiola’s side winning the treble – Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League – last season.

Speaking with The Telegraph on breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League all-time scoring record, he said:

“How long is my contract? Three years and 10 months left? So, there is still time to do it, no?”.

Erling Haaland also added that if he will still be playing in England in the next 15 years, then it is possible.

Haaland said: “But if I will still be 15 years longer in England then why not? We will see…”

The 23-year-old broke the record of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole for the most goals scored in a single league season last term with his 36 goals return in 35 matches.

Cole and Shearer scored 34 goals in a single Premier League season to set the previous record, but Haaland broke it and set another by scoring 2 extra goals.

He has also begun the season in outstanding form, scoring 8 goals in 7 league appearances.

Despite being on a seemingly bad patch, many have still tipped him to win the Golden Boot once again for the 2023/24 Premier League season.

Alan Shearer scored 260 goals in 441 Premier League appearances, and his record was almost in jeopardy if Harry Kane hadn’t left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich in August 2023.

How many seasons will Erling Haaland need to break the all-time Premier League scoring record of Alan Shearer?

Erling Haaland would need about 216 goals based on current standings to be able to break the record of Alan Shearer.

However, if his 36-goal league tally last season is anything to go by, then he could break the record within the next 7 – 8 seasons.

Haaland has scored 195 goals and provided 47 assists in 246 appearances so far in his career.

He has a contract that runs until June 30, 2027, having signed a five-year deal with Manchester City when he arrived at the club on July 1, 2022.

Meanwhile, the Cityzens travel to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal on October 8, 2023.

The encounter promises to be exhilarating, competitive, and combative, with both teams expected to bring their A-game to the fore.

Erling Haaland should lead the line for Manchester City against Arsenal, and he will be aiming to increase his 8-goal tally in the Premier League this season.

The 23-year-old has scored 60 goals and provided 11 assists in 64 appearances for the Manchester-based club across all competitions.
