Chelsea have endured several injury problems and these issues have worsened following the international break.
Chelsea under new manager Mauricio Pochettino has endured an underwhelming start to life back in the Premier League.
They have just been able to record one win in five games having overseen another frustrating display on Sunday in a 0-0 draw at Bournemouth.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the Chelsea coach said: “The fans are disappointed because of the situation, but now I am not worried about that.”
The words showed the confidence the manager has in his abilities and his steadfast approach to the challenging early stages of his tenure with the Blues.
The Blues have spent tons of money in the transfer market since January but the number of players sidelined is now in double figures.
Why is Chelsea players prone to injuries?
We do not have access to current injury data or specific information about the injury trends of Chelsea FC players beyond that date. However, the following could be likely reasons why these players could be suffering back to back injuries:
High-Intensity: Style of Play: Under Pochettino, the team has played high-intensity style of football, which involves pressing, fast transitions, and constant movement. This is one reason why players can be prone to injuries, and may be the reason why the players are always out injured.
Fixture Congestion: While this does not appy to the club at the moment, this is one major issue that can cause injuries to players.
Individual Player Factors: Some players may have a history of injuries or physical conditions that make them more prone to getting injured. And its becoming likely so for some Chelsea players especially the skipper Reece James, who has had more injuries than expected at the club.
Training and Medical Staff: The quality of a team’s medical and sports science staff, as well as their training methods and facilities could be a big influence. Since some of the medical staff departed Stamford Bridge, the injury issues have spiked with players going in and out of the sidelines.
Bad Luck: Injuries can sometimes be purely a matter of bad luck and that is looking like what Chelsea are suffering from at the moment. Because even the new signings who have not even kicked a ball for the Blues are injured, Romeo Lavia in particular.
