Dominik Szoboszlai of Liverpool and head coach Jurgen Klopp have admitted that Mohammed Salah wants to stay at the club amid interest from Saudi Arabia.
The former Chelsea frontman was clearly the subject of a 150 million pounds offer from the Middle East outfit Al-Ittihad on deadline day, but the Anfield outfit swiftly rejected the huge amount.
The European summer window closed on the 1st of September but clubs in Saudi Arabia can still sign new players until September 7th.
It has been reported that the Saudi Arabia Pro League champions will try again with a world record of 200 million pounds bid for the Egyptian International striker.
Mohammed Salah could also become the highest-paid player in the world with a weekly £1.5 million wage package if the deal later materializes.
The 31-year-old is still under contract at Liverpool until the summer of 2025. The club’s owners Fenway Sports Group would probably give crucial consideration to such an outstanding offer, but head coach Jurgen Klopp remains adamant about keeping hold of the striker.
However, Salah’s agent has also acknowledged on several occasions that his client remains pleased in Merseyside.
Dominik Szoboszlai has allay any suspicion among Liverpool supporters, having gotten an assurance from Salah himself that he wants to continue with the Reds for a little while longer.
After Liverpool’s victory over Aston Villa during the weekend Dominik Szoboszlai said; “We are really happy that he stayed. We were, of course, speaking between each other but he wants to stay, he wants to be here, he wants to be with us”.
He added: “He stayed and we are really happy, a great player, a great person, we need some guys in the team like him, so we are happy”.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Mo Salah were both on target during Liverpool’s 3-0 triumph over Aston Villa on Sunday, 3rd of September as the Hungarian International broke the deadlock with a sharp strike into the top corner from a Trent Alexander-Arnold’s set-piece.
Before halftime, Liverpool took a commanding lead of two goals thanks to an own goal from Matty Cash. Salah then capped off the thrashing with a close-range finish after Darwin Nunez deflected a corner into his path.
The former AS Roma striker has scored or registered an assist in each of his previous 10 Premier League appearances for the Reds, and Klopp also applauded Salah for not being carried away by the speculations surrounding his future.
Since Mo Salah left Roma to join Klopp’s squad in the summer of 2017, he has hit 188 goals and has made 81 assists in 309 matches for the club, but the Liverpool manager is seemingly frightened of missing the Egyptian international to a massive Saudi transfer next year.
Many Liverpool players have already left for Saudi Arabia, including club captain Jordan Henderson, who has joined former teammate Steven Gerrard at Al-Ettifaq and forwards Fabinho and Roberto Firmino.
