The offer for the Egypt international, 31, was in excess of £100m, alongside add-ons taking it up to £150m.

The Reds on the other hand have insisted that the player is not for Sale and that is their final say as far as the club is concerned.

Mohamed Salah joined Liverpool from Roma in 2017 and last season, he signed a new three-year contract with the Premier League side.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp revealed last week that Salah was “100% committed” to the club and he also reiterated the club’s stance that the player was not for sale.

Speaking on Salah, Jurgen Klopp said: “The position remains the same. Absolutely no doubt about that. That’s how it is. Nothing else to say.”

Liverpool have no time to react to Salah’s departure or sign a new player with the transfer window closing by 23:00 BST on Friday, September 1.

Al-Ittihad on the other hand can still sign any player they want as the Saudi Pro League transfer window is set to close on 7 September.

The Egyptians’ agent had previously dismissed claims that Salah will move to Saudi Arabia but has not responded following the latest links with Al-Ittihad.

Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa wrote in a social media post on 7th August, 2023, saying: “Mohamed remains committed to Liverpool.”

“If we considered leaving Liverpool this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer.”

The attacker has also won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, Fifa Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup during his time at Anfield.

The Liverpool ace has also bagged or shared the Premier League Golden Boot three times and been named the PFA player of the year twice.

The Reds have already sold midfielders Fabinho and Jordan Henderson to Al-Ittihad and Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League.

Ex Liverpool star Roberto Firmino also left the club as a free agent to join the Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli after his contract expired.
