However, the Red Devils were able to secure the needed transfer, and there were provisions for places that needed replacement.
The club spent €206.7 million on new players, with €55.34 million from the sale of their young players. The club had a net loss of €151.36 million.
The club started the transfer window by getting Erik Ten Hag target Mason Mount away from Chelsea. The negotiations took months, but they were able to snatch the golden boy away from his boyhood team.
The club also went for another Erik Ten Hag target in the form of Andre Onana from Inter Milan after the club failed to give David De Gea a new deal, even after the Spanish goalkeeper decided to accept a salary cut.
Erik Ten Hag needed a ball-playing goalkeeper and stated countless times last season that other teams are at their best due to the ability of their goalkeeper.
It was revealed that Manchester United were among the teams with the highest chances created in the Premier League, but they were also the team with the lowest goal tally in the top four with 58 goals.
Erik Ten Hag believed it was a striker issue, with Anthony Martial spending most of his time with the club medical staff.
Manchester United acted fast, and they signed 20-year-old Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund for €75 million. He is set to make his debut against Arsenal on September 3, 2023, at the Emirates.

The club also bowed to the fans pressure, who demanded Manchester United sign Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina, coupled with the player’s desire to leave Serie A to play for the Red Devils.
Also, Manchester United signed Sergio Reguilón on loan from Tottenham Hotspur to provide cover for the injured Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia who will be out for a long time.
They failed to find a club for Eric Bailey and Van De Beek, also didn’t accept offers from West Ham for both Scott McTominay and Harry Maguire.
