The Red Devils are plotting a shock loan move for the Spaniard as a stand-in for Luke Shaw. They have informed Chelsea of their interest on the player but are yet to table an offer for the player with no official talks as of the time of filing this report.
Futballnews understands Chelsea will be open to Marc Cucurella’s loan exit.
Marc Cucurella joined Chelsea for £62m from Brighton last summer, signing a six-year contract till 2028. He has made 24 Premier League appearances for the club but is yet to taste action with the Blues under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Cucurella had to battle for his place alongside Ben Chillwell and Ian Maatsen on the left-back role as Mauricio Pochettino adopts a more attacking strategy for Chelsea with running wing-backs.
Ben Chillwell has gotten the nod ahead of Cucurella on the role with Cucurella and Maatsen on the bench.
Maatsen, 21, who has made only two Premier League appearances since joining Chelsea in 2019, is also ahead of Cucurella in Pochettino’s pecking order.
After completing his loan spell with Burnley, Mauricio Pochettino is said to have personally blocked any other loan advances for the Dutch attacking wing-back as he considers him a good alternative for Ben Chillwell in his Chelsea strategy.
Marc Cucurella has been linked with a move away from the club with his dwindling fortunes at Stamford Bridge. Interests from Atletico Madrid, including Newcastle United and Saudi Arabia have been reported.
Amid rumors of a possible exit this summer, sources close to the player have revealed he is ready to fight for his place at Chelsea under Pochettino. However, a loan move to Manchester United could be another perfect option for Cucurella to reset his career.
Chelsea fans want Marc Cucurella out
Before his Chelsea fortunes took a wild tumble under Mauricio Pochettino, Marc Cucurella was already losing it with Chelsea fans. He was booed in Chelsea’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund and a Premier League clash against West Ham last season.
After reports of Man United’s interest in the player emerged, Chelsea fans have asked the club to let him go.
A fan wrote, “just take it bro. It is okay even if it is free.”
Another said, “take it. I’m sincere. Even for free, take it.”
Another added, “Sure, they can sign him on loan. We have Chillwell and Maatsen.”
Two Argentine defenders – Nicolas Tagliafico of Lyon and Marcus Acuna of Sevilla have also been linked with Manchester United as replacements for Luke Shaw.
