The French league has been hit with a fresh case of Covid-19 as French club Angers confirms that their full-back Rayan ait-Nouri has tested positive for the virus and will not be included in the squad to face Dijon in their first match of the season on Saturday.

Preliminary tests were carried out by the club as stipulated by the French association ahead of their fixture against Dijon. The Algerian defender’s result came back positive for the virus.

However, he has since been isolated and will have to undergo a second test and must test negative before he is allowed to join his colleague but will miss the opening league fixture.

The game will go ahead as scheduled as the infected case does not contradict the medical protocol and LFP rule, which stipulates that a team can be allowed to play if its numbers of affected players do not exceed three.

Thursday 20 August, the Angevin group going to the 9 th time Covid-19 PCR screening tests. The results are in and point to a positive case within the professional workforce. This is Rayan Aït Nouri. The player concerned, who does not present symptoms, was placed in fourteen and the whole group, staff included, remains under the reinforced surveillance of the club doctor. New tests will be carried out next week and Rayan Aït Nouri will be subject to additional examinations prior to his return.
