Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared a picture of Barcelona new signing Vitor Roque depicting how life can change in 4 years.
Romano shared a picture of Roque with his agent Ehler Pessoa in 2018 and 2023 holding a Barcelona jersey with Lionel Messi written at the back of it.
The picture definitely displayed the love the Brazilian has had for Barcelona over the years and his dream to represent the club.
Barcelona confirmed the signing of Vitor Roque on Wednesday, the 12th of June, 2023 with a statement on the club’s website which reads:
“FC Barcelona and Club Athletico Paranaense have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Victor Hugo Roque Ferreira, better known as Victor Roque.
“The player is expected to join the Club for the 2024/25 season and will sign a contract until the 2030/31 season with a buy out clause of 500 million euros.”
The acquisition of Vitor Roque will be welcomed with great delight by Barcelona fans, seeing how their eternal rivals Real Madrid have beaten them to the signing of several youngsters in recent years.
Brazilian stars Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo Goes and Endrick opted to join Real Madrid in the past despite keen interest from Barcelona.
On Thursday, the 6th of July, 2023 Los Blancos also pipped the Blaugrana side to the signing of Arda Guler.
It was reported that Guler had agreed personal terms with Barcelona, but the emergence of Real Madrid resulted in the Turkey International switching to the Madrid team.
Vitor Roque in Barcelona
Vitor Roque is a different preposition as he is fascinated at playing for the Catalan giants than any other club in Europe.
The Brazilian also shared how delighted he is at signing for the Camp Nou club.
He said: “Culers, I’m very happy to sign with Barça. It’s a dream come true. Tigrinho is coming to Barcelona. See you soon. Força Barça!”
Roque received offers that would have seen him earn higher than what the La Liga champions will be offering him, but he chose to follow his dream.
Every decade, it appears Barcelona sign a Brazilian who goes on to flourish and produce magic.
In 1993, the Catalan giants signed Romario from PSV Eindhoven, fast-forward 10 years later in 2003, they also signed Ronaldinho from Paris Saint Germain.
Neymar joined Barcelona from Santos in 2013 and presently in 2023, Vitor Roque has joined the club from Athletico Paranaense.
Will Roque be added into that illustrious list?
The 18-year-old has scored 22 goals and provided 9 assists in 67 appearances for Athletico Paranaense.
Roque won the South American U-20 Championship in 2023 and he was the joint-top scorer in the tournament with 6 goals.
The youngster was also included in Copa Libertadores team of the tournament for 2022.
It is now a matter of time to see whether Vitor Roque would go on and become an icon at FC Barcelona just like other Brazilians that have played for the Spanish club in the past.
