Aaron Ramsdale, 25, joined Arsenal back in 2021 for a fee of £30m, having suffered back-to-back relegations with Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

Many fans were not happy with the signing, but Ramsdale quickly established himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper and played a key role in their Premier League title push last season.

The Englishman also signed a lucrative new four-year deal with Arsenal in May, promising to make “more special memories”.

Aaron Ramsdale in an interview said: “It’s crazy to think it’s coming up to two years since we did this. I know that you guys weren’t totally overexcited about the signing of myself and I totally get it.”

“I didn’t have any right to come here and expect you to rate me from the get-go. This is a huge club with some great keepers along the way. But, fair play, once I got into the team, I got my chance, I feel like you understood me a lot more. I feel your love and I feel like you feel mine as well.”

“I can’t imagine my home being anywhere else. I feel honored that you guys have welcomed me in and I feel honored that the staff want me to stay. So it was the easiest decision in the world to commit my future to The Arsenal. So let’s keep moving forward as a club and make some more special memories.”

Second on the list after Ramsdale is French Ligue 1 Champions goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is valued at €75m (£64m).

Liverpool and Brazilian’s shotstopper Alisson sits in third position, with his value estimated to be €67m (£57m).
