Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr have confirmed the appointment of Luis Castro as the club’s new permanent manager.

Castro has reportedly penned a two-year deal with the Riyadh based club and he will earn €7.5 million yearly.

Reports indicate that Al Nassr’s captain, Cristiano Ronaldo was strongly involved in the hiring process and he reportedly played a rule in luring his countryman away from Brazilian side Botafogo.

During his time at Al Duhail, Castro won the Emir of Qatar Cup, which is now called the Amir Cup.

Al Nassr were on the road to winning their 4th Pro League title, but at the important moments of the season, their form dwindled and they lost the title to Al Ittihad.

The squad is expected to be reinforced optimally this summer, with Marco Brozovic being the first acquisition made so far.

Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech reportedly failed a medical at Al Nassr, but it is uncertain if another medical will be done to ascertain his physical state.

Wilfred Zaha is currently a free agent and he has been linked with a possible move to the Knights of Najd.
