There is viral report that Jorge Mendes, an agent of Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo, has reportedly approached Barcelona for a transfer deal for the 35-year-old Portuguese football icon which would see him play alongside his career rival, Lionel Messi. This was revealed by a Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
Balague alleged that the report which linked Ronaldo to Paris Saint Germain went viral because Jorge Mendes approached the French club. He also alleged that Mendes has been mandated to find a new club for Ronaldo.
The quest of the football agent was bored out of the fact that Juventus, the current club of Ronaldo could not do much in the 2019-2020 UEFA Champions League campaign as they crashed out of the round of 16 despite Ronaldo scoring two goals in the second leg of the round.
“We’ve seen this in the last six months, he was linked to Real Madrid. They said no chance, he’s not coming back”, Balague told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It is as drastic as that. He’s been offered everywhere, including Barcelona.
“I’m not sure if they can get rid of him easily [because] with the kind of money he still earns – 23million euros net – that he was earning at Real Madrid and I think he equaled those wages when he went to Juventus.
“Who is going to pay that kind of money?”
