The Argentine legend recently caused an uproar in Paris after he reportedly told Kylian Mbappe to leave PSG for a better team.

Despite that, PSG shared a 58-second-long video of Messi’s best moments at the Parc des Princes to wish him a happy 36th birthday.

The Ligue 1 champions captioned the video with: “Happy birthday Leo,” to celebrate the World Cup winner.

This special wish came after Lionel Messi decided to exit PSG and join MSL franchise Inter Miami after his contract expired.

Messi shunned an opportunity to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 champions and opted to leave as a two times Ligue 1 winner.

Lionel Messi scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 75 games across all competitions in two seasons for PSG.

However, the legendary forward did not leave ceremoniously amid a tense relationship with sections of the Parc des Princes fanbase.

Messi also sent a parting message to Kylian Mbappe which specifically told the Frenchman to leave the French Captial.

According to Defensa Central, Messi took a dig at his former club by telling his former teammate to find another team with a good vision.

Messi said: “I’d rather you go to Barça but, if you want to go to Madrid, do it. You deserve a real project: a winning project.”

Kylian Mbappe has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and was almost their player but the deal was overturned last summer.

Recall we reported that Madrid reached an agreement over a €250 million deal for the France captain but he chose to remain in Paris.

Kylian Mbappe recently provoked the Ligue 1 champions when he sent them a letter saying that he does not wish to extend his contract.

Mbappe’s current contract is set to expire next year and PSG are seemingly ready to cash in.

Kylian Mbappe also defended Lionel Messi over criticism during his time at PSG:

Mbappe surprisingly leaped to Lionel Messi’s defense following the Argentine icon’s departure from PSG.

The France and PSG captain took a dig at French media and those in the country who criticized Messi and said he couldn’t believe the relief that many have displayed seeing the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner depart.

He stated that: “He’s one of greatest player in the history of football. It’s never good news when someone like Messi leaves. I don’t quite understand why so many people were so relieved that he was gone. He didn’t get the respect he deserved in France.”

Lionel Messi had a disappointing spell at the Parc des Princes, and he never really looked truly comfortable in the French capital.

His performance was below his previous seasons and his usual high standards at FC Barcelona which led to backlash from PSG fans and the media.

The World Cup winner was booed several times by PSG fans during his two-year stint in France and even on his last game for the club.
