Mason Greenwood has been seen training with a private trainer as Manchester United are yet to decide on his future.
What happened to Mason Greenwood?
Mason Greenwood, who is expecting a child with his lover, Harriet Robson, this summer, was arrested in January 2022 after the same lady accused him of physical and sexual abuse.
The 21-year-old was suspended by Man United after he was arrested for attempted rape, controlling and coercive behavior, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
However, those accusations against him were withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have investigated the allegations themselves and are reflecting on restoring him to Erik ten Hag first team squad.
That investigation is surveying whether Greenwood bought the team into dishonor and whether his contract with the club should be terminated.
The England international is currently preparing for his return to professional football while he serves his suspension. A private coach he hired for the purpose worked with him intensively on Thursday, 22nd of June.
According to reports, the Manchester United academy graduate practice on his close control and firing during a 90-minute training session at a public sports center.
Notably, the striker was not putting on his common Nike boots after the company terminated its sponsorship deal with him.
Greenwood participated in the practice in a black T-shirt and track pants while also sporting a fitness tracker. Greenwood got to practice his shooting skills with the help of a goalkeeper.
Greenwood’s return to Old Trafford remains undecided since United has not yet decided on the matter. They did put him on their roster and didn’t release him at the end of the season.
There have been reports that the Glazer family and United CEO Richard Arnold are close to making a decision, which could lead to an official announcement on Greenwood’s future before the club’s takeover process is over.
Greenwood last appeared in a Man United game in January 2017 which was a home victory against West Ham United, and since then he has not made another appearance for the team.
A return to training with a private coach indicates that he may be anticipating a return to football shortly; however, whether United will be willing to offer him the chance to rebuild his career as part of their squad next season remains to be seen.

In recent months, United fans have been asking Erik ten Hag about the potential of re-adding Greenwood to the team. However, the Dutchman told reporters last month that he will not be involved in making any final choices over the player’s future.
However, he did note that Greenwood has “shown in the past that he is capable of doing that (scoring goals),” suggesting that the forward’s return to the squad is at least being explored behind closed doors at United.
According to a football insider who reported earlier this month that manager Erik ten Hag and most first-team players are ready to give the 50 million pounds rated striker a second opportunity.
