Toni Kroos took an hurtful jibe at an individual perceived to be his former Real Madrid teammate Eden Hazard on the 14th of June 2023.

Kroos made an assertion that the Belgian star “let his career die” at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid acquired Eden Hazard from Chelsea in 2019 for £88 million and after four horrible years at the Spanish capital, both parties decided to break the ties between them.

Los Blancos announced via a statement shared on the club’s website on the 3rd of June 2023 that they have reached an agreement to release the player.

Excerpt from the statement reads: “Real Madrid CF and Eden Hazard have reached an agreement whereby the player will be released from the club as of June 30, 2023.”

The 32-year-old failed to make any meaningful contribution to the club despite his high-profile arrival to Spain.

Hazard is apparently considering retirement at the age of 32, having already retired from International football following Belgium’s dismal outing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Toni Kroos sighted Eden Hazard while cautioning Jude Bellingham

Toni Kroos supposedly referenced Eden Hazard while sending an advise to Jude Bellingham on the need to stay focused after penning a six-year-deal with Madrid.

Real Madrid announced Bellingham’s arrival on Wednesday and it was received heartily by supporters of the club.

It is believed that the Englishman’s move from Borussia Dortmund was worth an estimated £88.5 million.

The amount spent in acquiring Bellingham is similar to the fee Los Blancos paid to Chelsea for Hazard’s signature in 2019.

However, the deal could rise to £113.5 million depending on the 19-year-old’s performances for Real Madrid.

Toni Kroos felt “positive” over the signing of the Englishman, but cautioned that a big money acquisition has already “let their career die” at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Kroos on Eden Hazard’s transfer

Kroos maintained on his podcast Einfach mal Luppen that Hazard’s transfer to the Spanish capital wasn’t a good one.

He said: “We had another player who came for a lot of money and basically let his career die.

“It was a lot of money, I think everyone would say that wasn’t a good transfer. But let’s be positive.”

During his four year stay at Real Madrid that was blighted by injuries, Hazard scored just 7 goals in 76 games for the club.

Moreover, Jude Bellingham is expected to be unveiled at a presentation ceremony in Madrid on the 15th of June 2023.

He will afterwards make an appearance in front of the media as the Englishman gets himself acquainted with the club.

Real Madrid confirmed the acquisition of the England International with a statement posted on the club’s website and it was shared on its social media accounts.

Following the confirmation of his arrival to the Bernabeu, Jude Bellingham was welcomed to the team by Vinicius Jr with a tweet.

He wrote: “Welcome to the best team in the world, @BellinghamJude.”

Bellingham is seen as a complete midfielder who is able to produce magic in the middle of the park.

He joined German giants Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020 at the age of 16.

The 19-year-old becomes the sixth player from England to sign for Real Madrid, behind Laurie Cunningham, Steve McManaman, David Beckham, Micheal Owen and Jonathan Woodgate.
