Some key names are expected to exit the Blues this summer. France international N’Golo Kante has joined Al-Ittihad. Mason Mount is also set for Stamford Bridge exit after a contract renewal deadlock with the club. He is eyeing a move to Manchester United.
Mateo Kovacic has been linked to Manchester City who are interested in signing the player. Kalidou Koulibaly and Romelu Lukaku, who is set to return from a loan spell from Inter Milan, is also facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge, including out-of-favor goalkeeper and Senegal international Edouard Mendy.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Kai Havertz is also set to leave the club with Arsenal strongly in the race to sign him this summer.
The midfield sensation wants to open a new chapter in his career and is open to a summer exit after three years at the club.
Chelsea want £75m for Kai Havertz as initial fee for the player but there are projections they may likely trim down the price as talks with Arsenal continue.
Close sources have revealed Arsenal will not be willing to pay £75m for Kai Havertz but will continue in the negotiations before making a first official offer which will predictably fall below Chelsea’s £75m asking price.
Real Madrid were keenly in the race to sign Kai Havertz but were also turned off by Chelsea’s £75m asking price.
The Los Blancos are reportedly not interested in making an offer of close to £50m for Kai Havertz, and have left the race leaving Arsenal on the pole position to sign Havertz.
According to reports, Chelsea will be willing to bring down Kai Havertz’s asking price from £75m to £70 as talks continue and may likely reduce it further. However, the Blues are not likely to sell Havertz below £50m.
Arsenal are yet to submit first official bid for Kai Havertz which may likely fall below £50m. Rounds of bids are expected from the north London club before a deal could finally be brokered.
Kai Havertz joined Chelsea in 2020 after a prolific career with Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
He has made 90 Premier League appearances for the club, scoring 19 goals. In the just-concluded 2022/23 season, the 24-year-old has made 35 Premier League appearances for Chelsea, scoring 7 goals with one assist.
He also had 2 Champions League goals in 10 appearances. A move to Arsenal will see the Chelsea star end his five-year contract with the Blues which was set to expire in 2027.
