Julian Alvarez has made history by becoming the first player to win a quadrant of European Cup, FA Cup, Premier League, and World Cup in the same season, leaving his name etched in golden letters.

Before now, only nine players had achieved the feat of becoming a continental champion at the club level in the same year as winning the World Cup.

However, no one had managed to add to that success by also winning the domestic league and cup.

Argentina’s Alvarez achieved a rare personal accomplishment by winning four major titles after Manchester City’s victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Despite starting fewer than half of City’s games, Alvarez finished the season as their second top scorer with 17 goals. Additionally, he was the third top scorer at the 2022 World Cup.

In the Premier League, City secured the title with a five-point lead over Arsenal. Additionally, they emerged victorious in the FA Cup final against Manchester United and the Champions League final against Inter Milan.

It is worth noting that Argentina won the World Cup final against France in December.

Alvarez was a potential option to replace De Bruyne, who suffered a suspected hamstring injury and had to leave the game in the 36th minute. However, Guardiola opted to bring in Phil Foden instead.

Although the Argentina international did not start any of the knockout matches in the competition, he managed to score against Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

He came on as a substitute for Haaland in the 89th minute and completed the spoil against Madrid.

Alvarez scored eight goals in 13 Premier League starts, whereas he only managed to score one goal in 18 substitute appearances throughout the 31 league games he played this season.

He also played a key role in the quarter-finals, where his team won 6-0 against Burnley. In that match, he scored two goals in the final 30 minutes, adding to Vincent Kompany’s disappointing return to the Etihad.
