Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has said that reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur “doesn’t register” with him as he gears up for the Scottish Cup final.
Some media outlets report Spurs are getting ready to approach the Australian after Celtic trade tackles with Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the Hampden Park in Glasgow on Saturday.
The 57-year-old reaffirmed that recent reports have not changed his thought process.
He said: “Somebody else was favorite last week, weren’t they? So no, it doesn’t register.
“I get all the interest and why people love to speculate on these things.
“But we’ve worked really really hard to get ourselves in this position and for me to let my mind wander about anything else other than getting our team prepared for a big day on Saturday, it’s just not who I am.”
If Ange Postecoglou guides Celtic to a win against Inverness at the Scottish Cup final, the Bhoys would be laying their hands on a domestic treble.
The Australian would also be winning a fifth trophy out of six on the cards if he does defeat the Caley Thistle on Saturday.
Postecoglou is on a one-year rolling deal with Celtic and he has been linked with other jobs in the English top-flight league.
He was also questioned if he could reassure supporters of the Scottish giants that he would be at the club next campaign.
Ange Postecoglou said: “Our supporters want to roll up on cup day and celebrate and make sure it’s a special day.
“Because anything I say now, will mean absolutely zero if we don’t win on Saturday. I can tell you that.
“That’s my focus because it’s my responsibility. That won’t change. I’ve been pretty clear on that.
“It’s a massive role to be manager of this football club and for me to be dismissive of potentially our biggest game of the year is just not going to happen.”
The former Melbourne Victory manager became manager of Celtic on the 10th of June 2021 penning a one-year rolling deal.
Due to the rolling contract he is currently on, the onus lies with him if he wants to remain or exit the Scottish Premiership side.
Joining Cetic made Ange Postecoglou the first Australian manager to coach a major club in Europe.
The Australian has won the Scottish Premiership and Scottish League Cup in his two seasons as manager of the Glasgow based club.
Postecoglou’s Cetic play a pattern similar to the best teams and coaches in football such as Pep Guardiola’s City, Robert Zerbi’s Brighton and even Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
His style requires inverted full backs, attackers with excellent positional play and also a team which can counterpress relentlessly.
