The Brazilian, who is 31 years old, had a season ending ankle injury in March and has been on recovery since then.

But he was expected to be in attendance for the 1-1 draw with Strasbourg on Saturday night which saw PSG win the Ligue 1 title.

Other injured teammates including Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Achraf Hakimi, Fabián Ruiz, Nuno Mendes, and Nordi Mukiele all travelled to Alsace but Neymar was notably absent.

Neymar was spotted shoulders to shoulders with the rich and famous at Formula 1’s most glamorous race weekend, shunning PSG title celebrations.

Christophe Galtier told reporters that the Brazilian had issues moving around due to the injury but he remained a constant presence until the very end of the season.

French outlet L’Equipe reported the manager’s staff also confirmed that there was no need for injured players to travel to Strasbourg for the game.

This also came after fellow teammate Lionel Messi snubbed the celebrations to enjoy a Coldplay Gig at Barcelona with Fabregas.

This controversy is coming amidst raging speculations that Neymar might leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

Neymar has about 4 years left on his massive contract with PSG and if he extends it, it will mean he will spend 10 years at the French capital.

The Brazilian attacker shocked the world when he left Barcelona to sign for PSG in a world-record £198million transfer in 2017.

Despite the mammoth amount that was paid for him to join the French side, Neymar has failed to equate that huge sum spent.

After several seasons that was cut short by injury, the Brazilian has now seen the wrath of Paris fans after he was attacked in his house by aggressive PSG fans who were chanting ‘get lost’.

The actions by PSG fans have increased speculations that both player and club could now be ready to part ways in the summer.

Chelsea, Manchester United and even Manchester City, are interested in signing the Brazilian form the French based club.

L’Equipe reported that Pep Guardiola has been in contact with Neymar to enquire about his intentions as the transfer window is set to open soon.

Manchester United also have been linked with the Brazilian star but it is believed that a move for Neymar may not happen due to FFP rules.
