It was a celebration galore at the Bramal Lane on Wednesday evening as the Blades sealed Premier League promotion after smashing former Premier League side West Bromwich 2-0 in Championships matchday 44.

The Blades were wrestled down in the first 45 minutes by West Brom who delayed the party after a feisty clash that saw both sides not able to find the back of net.

It was a crunch tie between the two former Premier League sides as they squared up against each other at the Bramal Lane.

While West Brom are chasing a play-off spots, the Blades needed a win to wrap up promotion into the English topflight.

After a barren first half draw, Sheffield United’s pedigree took a turn on the game in 58th minute.

Berge opened the scoring for the home side to draw them closer to the much-sought after Premier League promotion.

In the 76th minute, Ahmedhodzic hit Sheffield United’s second to double the lead and edge the Blades closer to a deserved win.

It has been two years since Sheffield United were relegated from the English topflight. Last season, they were close to sealing a return to the elite division but were denied the opportunity at the playoffs were they lost in the semifinal to Nottingham Forest.

They are now the second team to qualify for the Premier League from Championships this season after Burnley sealed promotion with an astonishing gap on top of the Championships table.

Who is the manager of Sheffield United?

The success story at Bramal Lane has been attributed to the shrewd and able hands of Sheffield United manager Paul Heckingbottom.

The 45-year-old Barnsley-born gaffer has been the brain and brawns behind Sheffield United’s meteoric rise in Championships.

He took over the club as an interim manager from Slavisa Jokanovic in 2021.

Under Jokanovic, Sheffield United was a crisis-ridden club struggling in the bottom half of Championships.

The club was 16th on the table when Heckingbottom took over as the manager. He drastically transformed the fortunes of the club and led them to the play-off in his first season in charge.

Now, Heckingbottom has build on his achievements to finally to secure straight promotion to the Premier League.
