Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has broken his silence after withdrawing out of the hunt to become the next permanent Chelsea head coach, but was reluctant to give details over why.

Nagelsmann had been one of the individuals in pole position touted to manage Chelsea following Graham Potter’s dismissal earlier in April.

Frank Lampard was made interim manager of the West London side until the summer, but Nagelsmann had appeared to be in the front position to become the team’s next permanent head coach.

Nagelsmann is no longer eyeing to be the next coach of Chelsea

Moreover, the 35-year-old who was fired from his role at Bayern Munich in March, is no longer vying to become Chelsea’s next manager.

Even though Chelsea had questions over his age and preparedness to move outside of Germany and into the Premier League, he apparently had the same doubts about moving to West London.

Questioned about his decision, the former RB Leipzig manager didn’t unravel much, telling Sky Sports Germany: “To cancel something, you have to commit to something.”

The shortlist on individuals looked at as possible incoming managers of Chelsea had been reduced to four names before the statement made by Julian Nagelsmann.

Burnley manager, Vincent Kompany, former Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino and former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique are the other three names shortlisted.

Vincent Kompany has been surprisingly included as a possible next manager of Chelsea

Vincent Kompany is a shocking addition to the list after he led Burnley to promotion back to the English Premier League from the English Championship.

The Chelsea board are said to be really interested in Kompany due to the job he has done at Burnley. Same as Tottenham, who are searching for a permanent manager after Antonio Conte was fired in March.

The admiration of Enrique, however, has reduced in spite of being an early prospect for the role. Luis Enrique flew to London for talks earlier in March and has also been associated with the vacant Tottenham job.

Discussing recently Luis Enrique stated: “I follow above all the Premier League because I would like to go to England to work. I wouldn’t go to any team but to one that could do important things, which greatly reduces the number.”

He further stated: “I don’t put my hopes up, really, because there are many candidates.

“I am lucky because my personal life fills me up. That it takes longer, that no offers arrive, well, it is what it is. I would go to a team with possibilities. That doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t work in Spain.”

The present man in pole position to become the next head coach of Chelsea is now certainly Mauricio Pochettino, who impressed during his first round of discussions with the Chelsea administrators and he could be the man selected to replace Graham Potter.

Julian Nagelsmann was part of the contenders before his withdrawal and it comes just a few days after former German player Matthias Sammer cautioned him about joining Chelsea.

German media outlet Bild reported the former Inter Milan player saying: “With the structure, I would clearly advise him against it.

“There is unrest coming from the leadership, from someone who wants to influence but who doesn’t seem to have a clue. That will always have some influence.”
