Norwegian forward Erling Haaland is the most recent Manchester City player to pen a multi-million-pound boot deal after signing for Nike.
The Manchester City attacker whose fitness would be a last gasp decision for the Cityzens battle against Liverpool on Saturday has long been admired by Adidas and PUMA.
Haaland is one of the hottest players in football and he has been highly sort after when his first contract with Nike came to an end at the start of 2022.
Manchester City’s kit manufacturers PUMA agreed a deal with Jack Grealish for a valuation of £50 million over five years.
Jack Grealish’s boot deal is the biggest deal for a footballer from Great Britain
The deal penned by Grealish a few weeks ago is the biggest deal ever given to a British footballer in the history of football.
Haaland’s lawyer, Rafaela Pimenta, had stated in October 2022 that her client was going to put pen-to-paper on the highest sponsorship contract in the history of football.
However, information of his deal with Nike have stayed a secret as no party have been willing to let the cat out of the bag or divulge any information.
Kevin De Bruyne, Kylian Mbappe and Marcus Rashford are amongst the other megastars in Nike’s athlete list and a statement on Friday from the American manufacturer’s goes thus:
“Haaland’s unprecedented rise through European club football, complete with a staggering pace of record-breaking goalscoring, cements his stamp on the future of the game.”
The contract with Nike is a remarkable 10-year-plus deal and it is therefore likely to be the most profitable in the history of the sport.
Presently, the figures involved are set to stay confidential as both parties are not ready to reveal the numbers in the agreement.
Erling Haaland is expected to be marketed by Nike as the centre forward who is in line to take over from the famous Brazilian forward Ronaldo who hung up his boots in 2011 and had been highly influential.
According to reports, the Cityzens attacker will be the “new face of number nine” when it comes to marketing his position in football.
After the confirmation by Nike, Erling Haaland gave a confirmation of the contract he recently penned with Nike via a tweet.
He captioned the tweet: “A new era of number 9 🧘🏼♂️⚽️ @nikefootball @Nike”
Haaland was searching for a boot deal that offers him comfort and satisfaction
The former Borussia Dortmund attacker had earlier revealed that he was looking for a financially lucrative deal, but comfort and satisfaction with the product was what he was mainly in pursuit of.
Haaland has netted 28 goals in 26 appearances for Manchester City in the Premier League and he is also the highest goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League this term with ten goals to his name.
In total, he has scored 42 goals in 37 appearances since he arrived from Germany in the summer of 2022.
The 22-year-old joins a Nike football team that already houses other star names of both gender including Alexia Putellas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ada Hegerberg, Marcus Rashford, Leah Williamson, Kylian Mbappe, Kevin De Bruyne, Megan Rapinoe and Sam Kerr.
