Thomas Tuchel Led Bayer Munich Top Of The Bundesliga Table After Beating Dortmund 4-2

Thomas Tuchel who replaced Julian Nagelsmann has already shown his capabilities after leading Bayern to a win against his former club.

Nagelsmann was ruthlessly dismissed while on vacation and replaced immediately by the former Chelsea boss in March.

Bayern fired Nagelsmann after Dortmund overtook them in the Bundesliga table. Tuchel has made that look like a perfect decision as he has returned them back in his first game in charge.

During the game, Bayern Munich dominated Dortmund completely but conceded some undeserving goals in the last 20 minutes.

As Thomas Muller was subbed off, it became obvious that without him it, the team lacked confidence and structure and looked quite ordinary.

Bayern Munich had better chances and could’ve easily scored six or seven goals in the match, but they wasted a series of goalscoring opportunities.

Nonetheless, this is a very good start in the new Tuchel’s era, even though the new coach might not be able to dominant as coach Flick did with Bayern back in 2019.

Sergie Gnabry and January signing Sadio Mane looked so ordinary in the game as both failed to do much.

Bayern Munich scored the first goal from what looked like a freak accident. Dayot Upamecano played a long ball from Bayern’s half which rolled into the net as keeper Gregor Kobel missed it.

Thomas Muller then scored a brace with Kingsley Coman scoring the fourth goal to exert Thomas Tuchel’s dominance in the league on day one.

Borrussia Dortmund got one goal back as Emre Can scored from the penalty spot and Donyell Malen added a second goal late in the game to make it 4-2.

The goals dismantled the league leaders who where one point above Bayern Munich as they were looking lost in the game.

Bayern Munich also scored two goals in the dying minutes from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Sergie Gnabry but they were ruled out for offside.

Tuchel’s side were in total control until Kobel came rushing out of his box and missed the ball from Upamecamo’s through ball to Leroy Sane.

Leroy Sane guarded the ball and ensured it entered the net without even touching it.

Thomas Muller became one of the three players to have scored 7 Der Klassiker goals after he added his 6th and 7th for Bayern during the game.

Muller bundled Matthijs de Ligts’ flick into the net and his second was a rebounded shot from an initial attempt.

Kingsley Coman scored in the second half and that was his 40th Bundesliga goal against Dortmund in his 6 seasons in Germany.

Jude Bellingham was fouled in the box and Emre Can converted the Penalty and Dortmund went ahead to add another in the dying minutes.

This win takes Bayern Munich to the top of the Bundesliga table and two points clear off Dortmund.

This is also the start of Thomas Tuchel’s era in the German Bundesliga as Bayern look to win a record 11 league titles in a row.
