The two suspects, both 21 years old, accepted their wrongdoing but insisted they had no idea they were breaking into the home of a French defender who had just won the 2018 World Cup.

They claimed they were only able to make it into one room of the house before attempting to get away as a caretaker approached.

After failing to steal jewelry and clothing, they claimed to the court, they fell from a veranda via which they had accessed the property.

They went on to state that “money troubles” were the reason behind their actions and that a third man had located the target of the attempted crime.

Yasmina Belmokhtar, Kimpembe’s attorney, called the conduct “a invasion of privacy” and asked for a symbolic settlement of one euro ($1) in damages.

According to the court, the men might have their original prison sentences of 10 and 8 months each lowered and serve them at home while donning electronic tags.

In a road game at Old Trafford on February 12, 2019, Kimpembe scored his first goal for PSG against Manchester United by turning home at the far post from an Angel Di Mara’s corner.

He did, though, lunge to block an effort from Diogo Dalot in stoppage time of the second leg at Parc des Princes in Paris that was awarded a penalty for handball after the VAR intervened.

According to the away goals rule, PSG was ultimately eliminated after losing the game 3-1.

Kimpembe and PSG agreed to an extension of his contract on July 11 that will keep him with the club until 2024.

PSG advanced to the 2019–20 UEFA Champions League final but fell to Bayern Munich by a score of 1-0.

Kimpembe took part in the game. He scored his second goal for the team on January 3, 2022, in a 4-0 Cup of France victory over Vannes.

Also, he assisted Kylian Mbappé on one of his goals. On February 6, 2022, Kimpembe scored his first Ligue 1 goal during a 5-1 victory against Lille.

In a victory over rivals Marseille on February 26, 2023, Kimpembe ruptured his achilles tendon and had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Just two weeks after his return from a hamstring ailment that had kept him out for three months, he sustained an injury that required surgery.
