Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City has revealed why the Premier League is getting tougher after being asked about his current form at the club.

De Bruyne, who has recorded 13 assists in the English Premier League so far this season has not been a regular starter for the Citizens since returning from the World Cup in December 2022.

The 31 year old Belgium international has been on the beach for three of the last seven Man City EPL games and was also substituted early in Pep Guardiola’s men’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium earlier this month.

Therefore, ex-Liverpool and Spurs player Jamie Redknapp has declared that Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is now the best midfielder in the Premier League, surpassing De Bruyne.

Meanwhile, Kevin de Bruyne was asked about his City’s current form in the League, and he responded that this season is the toughest since joining the Blue side of Manchester.

Speaking before their 7-0 win over RB Leipzig in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, the creative midfielder said, “I think the league has changed a bit, the lower teams are able to spend more money and buy quality players”.

“I feel like all 20 teams have so much quality and I think the level of difficulty of beating all the teams is getting tougher and tougher.”

Pep Guardiola’s side currently sits in the 2nd position in the League five points behind the league leaders Arsenal but have won their last three matches conceding once in the process.

City, however, will face a formidable challenge in trying to catch Arsenal, who are currently in top form. A team led by Mikel Arteta is on track to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004 after a streak of five straight victories.

Even though City and Arsenal will meet again in late April at the Emirates Stadium, Guardiola’s men tend to improve as the season winds down, so the Citizens should feel confident in their chances of catching the Gunners.

If Manchester City wants to make a run in the Premier League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup, Kevin De Bruyne will need to be at the top of his game for the rest of the season.

Kevin De Bruyne has been confronted by Pep Guardiola to go back to basics in a bid to make sure that the Citizens succeed this season. The Spaniard manager’s comments came after a difficult moment for the midfielder.

What’s next for De Bruyne and Man City?

Kevin De Bruyne will be looking forward to getting on the starting lineup for the Citizens when they face Burnley in the FA Cup quarter final on Saturday, 18th of March, 2023, at the Emirates Stadium.
