German heavyweights Bayern Munich and Major League Soccer champions, Los Angeles FC have announced a collaboration that is intended on developing young talents for the beautiful game.

As a result of this, the two clubs have named the partnership “Red and Gold Football” with the headquarters of the corporation to be set up in Munich.

This is the first time that a Major League Soccer team will join forces with a European powerhouse, aimed at grooming talents and creating a pathway to first-team soccer.

Both clubs would own 50% of the shares and the Co-President of Los Angeles FC and General Manager John Thorringto also had great words to say on the partnership.

He said: “A partnership of this magnitude is the next step in our evolution as a Club.”

He added: “We are extremely excited to work together with FC Bayern to identify and develop young talent in Southern California and beyond, and believe this relationship will provide players throughout our systems the ability to maximize their potential and see a clear pathway to first-team football.”

“The transfer market is a big part of our business, and I think Bayern Munich sees great potential in MLS and LAFC and this pipeline of talent.

“I think it enables us to go after a more mature player, but then when you back that all the way down into our academy it essentially widens our funnel and then also gives us far more opportunities to place players globally.”

Oliver Kahn, the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Management at FC Bayern Munich also had excellent remarks on it.

Kahn said: “FC Bayern will expand its promotion of young talent with Los Angeles Football Club. On an international level, soccer is developing rapidly, which is also evident in the transfer market. We see this partnership as an opportunity to strengthen FC Bayern in the sporting competition with the best clubs in Europe and the Bundesliga.”

He added: “The fact that the 2026 World Cup will largely take place in the USA, where we already have an office in New York, makes Los Angeles even more attractive. I expect a boost in quality and young talent in Major League Soccer, which will have a positive impact on our partnership.”

This is another move that Bayern Munich have taken so as to improve Soccer in the United States. The move would also help to nurture and spot raw talents that would be developed into world-beaters.

Bayern Munich acquired the services of Alphonso Davies from Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps and the Canadian has become one of the best left-backs in the world since he arrived in Germany.

The German club established their first international office in New York in 2014 with the sole aim of assisting the development of football and also helping academies in North America.

This move prompted Bayern Munich to establish another office in Shanghai in 2017 and Bangkok in 2022 as a result of the successes recorded from opening the office in New York.
