Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has named Vincent Kompany his successor as he believes he has the quality of acquisition.
The Sky Blues manager Guardiola is facing the final stretch of his seventh season with City and as he continues with his great work in the club, Pep is doubtful of his future after he signed a contract extension until 2025.
And before the day of the legendary coach’s departure, Guardiola has already named his old acquaintance to be his successor at City.
Pep has named former City defender Vincent Kompany as the one destined to be the manager of the current premier league champions, Manchester City.
The former Etihad skipper, Kompany oversaw an impressive coaching stint at Anderlecht before he moved on to join the second-division outfit at Turf Moor.
Vincent Kompany is the manager in charge of Burnley; a job which he has been executing brilliantly in the EFL Championship club.
Kompany has guided The Clarets on their way to the Premier League as they are leading the table by 12 points.
The Belgian coach has done a brilliant job as Burnley has lost only two games so far and have looked pretty impressive throughout the season.
Manchester City were drawn against Burnley in the quarterfinal of the FA Cup tournament which will see Guardiola come face to face with his former disciple, Vincent Kompany who is in charge of the Clarets.
The legendary ex-Manchester City skipper will make an emotional return to Etihad with Burnley in the FA Cup quarter-final later this month.
When asked about the managerial aptitudes of his old acquaintance, Guardiola applauded Kompany and named him as his future successor in the City dugout.
He said the former Belgian defender will return to City honorably to take the saddle when his time comes.
Guardiola said: “He [Komapany] will be back sooner or later. I think his destiny to be the manager of Manchester City is already written in the stars.
It’s going to happen. I don’t know when, but it’s going to happen.”
“I’m pretty sure. It is my feeling, maybe I am wrong. He has all the attributes ‘ the work ethic, knowledge of the game, well respected, experienced.”
”Doing what he has done is so difficult and he’s doing well. He knows the club, the environment, the fans, and what our people need. The destiny is there.”
Manchester City’s Premier League title ambition will be put to test as they are set to host Newcastle United today Saturday, March 4 at the Etihad Stadium.
With Arteta edging his Gunners squad towards the summit gradually, with a five points lead over Guardiola’s side, Manchester City need to get the better of the Magpies to have any chance of retaining their EPL title this season.
