Harry Kane has reached a milestone in his football career after scoring his 200th club career goal against Newcastle United on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. The Tottenham Hotspur striker didn’t stop there, he ended the match adding one more to it to make it 201 club career goals.

Tottenham‘s manager Jose Mourinho could not hide his admiration for the 26-year-old England international. The Portuguese tactician described him as an “incredible” footballer after scoring two goals in their 1-3 win over Newcastle on Wednesday.

Harry Kane knows how important he is, he is incredible,” Mourinho said. “After such a difficult recovery [from injury] he is playing every minute of every game, this is the fourth game with two days in between and Harry gave everything.”

Harry Kane followed Jose Mourinho led Tottenham squad to Newcastle; prior to the match, Mourinho had a bad record of never winning a match in Newcastle after seven attempts with Chelsea football club and Manchester United.

The shadow of such a record was only noticed in the first 23 minutes as Newcastle United were having more of the ball than their visitors. After the first half water break, Mourinho changed his formation from 4-4-2 to 4-2-3-1 which gave Kane more space to operate upfront.

Son Heung-Min opened the scoring in the 27th minute for Tottenham. Kane had to wait until the second half before his presence was felt and had the chance to achieve his milestone. But that didn’t happen until Newcastle had equalised in the 56th minute.

Harry Kane historic moment came in the 60th minute when substitute Steven Bergwijn’s cross picked him in the eighteen-yard box and the Tottenham star headed it in perfectly to make it 200 goals in 350 club matches.

Kane who has been with Tottenham senior team since 2009, scored 184 of those goals for Tottenham and the other 16 of the goals when he was on loan at Millwall, Leyton Orient and Leicester City.

The England international extended the goals record to 201 in the 90th minute of the match by scoring with his head again, making it the first time in his football career that he has scored twice in a match using his head.

Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-3 win against Newcastle has taken the club to the 7th spot with 55 points in 36 games. They are one point against 6th placed Wolves which means that they are one point away from landing a Europa league spot.

Their remaining two games before the season finally ends are against Leicester City and Crystal Palace, straight wins from the two games could guarantee them that desired spot.
