For the first time in the history of Newcastle United, they have now gone unbeaten in 15 Premier League matches.

After the Arsenal magic pioneered by Mikel Arteta, also worth mentioning is the Newcastle United magic championed by Eddie Howe.

Newcastle United is a team to beat this season. They have gatecrashed the Champions League race in the Premier League. No thanks to two of the regular top-six teams – Liverpool and Chelsea – who are struggling to find their feet with the league crossing the halfway line.

There were doubts over the chances of the magpies staying consistent and keeping taps with their top-four hopes when the season began.

They pulled a series of great results against the big boys in the league, signaling their readiness to contend for a ticket in one of Europe’s elite club competitions – the Champions League and Europa League.

Newcastle turned St James Park into a fortress, where they axed big teams and at least share spoils.

Against Chelsea on 12 November 2022, the Magpies secured all three points, defeating the Blues 1-0 with Willock’s 67th-minute strike.

They narrowly lost possession to the Blues, sharing 48% but their attacking threat was incredible helping them break the tie in the 67th minute after a barren first-half draw.

On 21 August 2022, Eddie Howe proved a point and the readiness of the team to aim for a bigger Premier League challenge when they took on Manchester City at St James Park.

It was a six-goal thriller. Gundogan put Manchester City ahead in the 5th minute but the goal was like a trigger that pulled out the fighting spirit from the Magpies.

Eddie Howe’s men then went on a rout against the defending champions, scoring in the 28th, 39th, and 54th minute through Almiron, Wilson, and Trippier respectively.

Erling Haaland and Silva later scored for the visitors as the match ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw

The Magpies shared spoils with high-flyers Arsenal and the resurgent Erik Ten Hag’s Man United, settling for a goalless draw in both games. They lost to Liverpool 2-1, but that happens to be their only defeat this season in the Premier League after 20 games.

Their last match against Crystal Palace ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw, but they have maintained an unbeaten Premier League run for 15 matches – an unprecedented top-flight record in the club’s history.

They are currently 3rd in the Premier League table with 39 points; the same number of points as Manchester United but separated by a commanding goal difference.

Apart from big-money signings such as Kirian Trippier, Nick Pope, Guimaraes, Botman, Isak, and others, Eddie Howe has played a crucial role in molding a team that is highly effective and efficient in attacking and defending capacities.

Newcastle may not challenge for the Premier League title, but they have established themselves as top contenders for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
