Despite not even getting a minute of action since the restart of the English Premier League for Arsenal, Mesut Ozil is looking forward to staying with Gunners beyond the summer.
Mikel Arteta has given several explanations about the midfielder’s absence with the team returning to winning ways. The Gunners, after losing their first two Premier League games, had recorded three straight wins against Southampton, Norwich City, and in-form Wolves.
With the quest for European football on the sight of Arteta, the Spaniard is trying to rebuild his squad, and he has not looked at the sight of Ozil, who was once the inspiring lad in the middle of the pack for the gunners.
With the games between Liverpool, Spurs, and Leicester, coming up, it’s not looking like Ozil will get some game time in the runs that could define their entire campaign.
Mesut Ozil not involved in contract talks
With contracts handed out in recent weeks to David Luiz, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Pablo Mari, and Cedric, the Gunners will be looking forward to convincing the team captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to another long term deal as his deal expires next summer. The Gabonese reportedly wants a minimum of £250,000 before he picks up the pen.
With Ozil not getting game time and him being linked with a move away in recent weeks, Athletic’s David Ornstein said the German wants to remain at the Emirates Stadium.
While noting that Arsenal has not put him in the transfer market despite earning £350,000-a-week at the Gunners, he said Ozil’s story is a perplexing one.
Ozil was only on the bench against Brighton and Southampton but failed to earn a call from Arteta.
Has Arteta and Ozil’s relationship deteriorate at Arsenal
Although the former Arsenal captain likes dealing with team issues internally, it is yet to be known if the relationship between him and his former teammate has gone sour.
One can think their friendship is til intact with Arteta not willing to sell him as well.
