Liverpool has surpassed Manchester United in the Deloitte Football Money League for the first time in the publication’s 26-year history.
The 20 football clubs with the highest income production in the world are ranked by Deloitte’s Football Money League.
Additionally, according to the most recent data, United trail both Liverpool and Manchester City.
Man City, Erik ten Hag’s cross-town opponents, are currently in first place in the Money League after generating massive income of £619.1 million in 2021–2022.
The figures do include matchday, broadcast, and advertising revenue but do not include transfer fees.
United actually improved from the previous year after earning £583.2 million in 2021–2022.
The Red Devils’ position in the ranking is fourth, one spot behind Liverpool, thanks to an 18% rise in revenue over the previous year.
But it’s the first time they’ve lagged Liverpool since Deloitte started keeping track of things.
With earnings of £594.3m, Jurgen Klopp’s team jumped from seventh to third in the previous year.
Due in large part to their run to the Champions League final and an increase in matchday revenue, that is a 22% gain from the previous year.
Six of the top 10 are made up of Premier League teams, with Chelsea, Tottenham, and Arsenal also appearing on Deloitte’s list.
The Blues are eight after earning £481.3 million, up 10% from the previous season.
And in the conflict between the two North London clubs, Spurs triumph.
The team led by Antonio Conte is ninth on the list following a startling 23 percent gain in revenue, bringing their total to £442.8 million.
That is more than £75 million more than Arsenal, who reported revenue of £367.1 million despite a 13% increase.
Five more Premier League teams, including West Ham (15), Leicester (17), Leeds (18), Everton (19), and Newcastle (20), are ranked outside the top ten.
Sam Boor, director of Deloitte’s Sports Business Group, stated: “The Premier League’s financial superiority is unlikely to be challenged in the coming seasons.”
“This is particularly apparent at a time when these clubs continue to attract international investment which often, in the best examples, encourages a focus on profitability, as well as on-pitch success.”
