Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed delight at becoming Arsenal’s fastest player to score 50 Premier League goals, after scoring a brace against Norwich City in just his 79th appearance for the Gunners.
Speaking to the club’s channel after the game that took Arsenal within seven points of the Champions League place said he was proud of being the record-breaker, and lauded the team for working hard for the deserved win against the Canaries that had during the reverse fixture secured a 2-2 at Carrow Road.
The Gabonese international, who also noted that he had a good game, said he is always happy to score goals to help the team to win games.
Aubameyang speaks on his contract extension talks
The skipper who is happy that the club winger, Bukayo Saka put pen to paper for a long term deal said his representative will discuss with Arsenal and see what happens, but stated that he remains focused on the coming games coming until the end of the season.
Speaking on the direction of the club, Aubameyang said they are positive and doing well, which according to him, is a good sign.
It is believed that the striker is willing to extend his deal with the Gunners as he would be entering the final year of his contract next season.
Arsenal vs Norwich highlight
In setting the record, Aubameyang netted in each half as the Gunners cruised to a comfortable home win over Norwich.
After Granit Xhaka doubled Arsenal’s lead following a well-worked move, Aubameyang pounced on another defensive to record his brace and Cedric Soares marked his debut with a long-range strike.
The win takes Arsenal to 46 points, seven points behind Leicester with 55 and eight points behind Chelsea, occupying the final Champions League slot.
Tonight’s action will see Manchester City fighting to seal the second spot as they host newly-crowned Premier League champions, Liverpool while Tottenham Hotspurs will be hoping to add to Sheffield United’s misery when they travel to Bramall Lane as they are also pushing for a place in the top four.
