Manchester United coach, Erik Ten Hag seemingly told a senior player to ‘stop whining’ after he complained of the hot weather during their 4-0 defeat to Brentford in August.
The United boss Ten Hag seems to have no time for complaints from his players.
The Red Devils lost their two opening matches of their Premier League season under Ten Hag, but have since improved in their strive to find themselves back in the top-four race.
Manchester United got off to the worst possible start under the Dutch boss when a 2-1 opening game defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford was followed up by a 4-0 thrashing at Brentford the following week.
After losing their opening match of the season against Brighton at Old Trafford, The Red Devils were looking to bounce back when they traveled to clash with Brentford the following week.
However, Ten Hag’s team had a truly shocking first half, conceding four goals in the opening 35 minutes of the match against Brentford as they went completely blank.
The Red Devils managed to not concede any more goals in the second half, but the result remains a destructive afternoon for United as they tumbled to a second straight loss under Ten Hag.
Meanwhile, before the humiliating loss, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag was reportedly disgruntled with his team, especially with one of the players some minutes into the Brentford match.
A senior United player, with his name withheld, complained that it was too hot to play against Brentford, with the temperatures at 32°C during the Premier League clash.
Ten Hag, however, fired back at him telling him to “stop whining” and ordering his players to get on the pitch and do their jobs.
The Dutchman, Ten Hag was certainly not interested in allowing the blame game to continue under his watch, and that defeat has proved to be somewhat of a turning point for United in this Premier League season.
Manchester United have recovered well, losing just two more games in their last 13 Premier League fixtures and moving straight up to fifth place in the table.
The Red Devils are now back to claim their potential top-four fortune with Manchester United one point behind fourth-placed Tottenham with a match in hand.
Meanwhile, the result didn’t come handily as Ten Hag had to overcome a number of obstacles during his early assignment at Old Trafford, including troubles from departed Cristiano Ronaldo who was his biggest headaches.
The United coach recently disclosed that he walked into a dressing room with a lack of fighting spirit when he arrived at Old Trafford, and this seems to be another example of the difficulties he faced.
However, since their shocking defeat to Brentford, United have managed to sit fifth with 29 points in the table and are looking forward to ousting fourth-placed Tottenham who has 30 points.
Manchester United have also advanced from their Europa League group stage and made it to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, with the red outfits looking onward for a much better season this year compared to last season.
What’s next for Manchester United?
The Red Devils need just two points to surpass Tottenham and sit fourth in the Premier League table.
And Ten Hag will strive to achieve that in their crucial away clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers today, December 31.
The match will take place at Molineux Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1:30 pm.
