Robert Lewandowski of Poland scored the 600th and 601st goals of his career as Barcelona enjoyed a routine win over Villarreal.

Robert Lewandowski scored twice as Barcelona defeated Villarreal 3-0 in a La Liga match on Thursday, giving him more than 600 career goals.

In the 31st and 35th minutes at the Spotify Camp Nou Stadium, Lewandowski scored twice for Villarreal to set a new record for himself.

In order to complete the scoring for Barcelona, Ansu Fati struck another goal in the 38th minute.

Lewandowski, a 34-year-old veteran forward who has played for Lech Poznan, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich in the past, scored the club’s and Poland’s 601st competitive goal.

In 690 club games during the course of his football career, Lewandowski has scored 525 club goals in addition to 76 goals for his country Poland.

So far in the 2022-2023 season, Robert Lewandowski has scored 11 goals in 10 La Liga games.

After Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, Lewandowski, 34, is the third player since 2000 to surpass the 600-goal career milestone. He is now 216 goals away from breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time career goals (817).

With his two goals against Villarreal at the Nou Camp, he has now scored 16 goals in 14 games across all competitions since arriving there for £42.6 million in the summer from Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski scored 103 goals in 186 appearances for his previous club Borussia Dortmund before scoring 344 goals in 375 games for Bayern.

Prior to relocating to Germany, he scored 76 goals in 134 international games for Poland. He also scored 21 goals for Znicz Pruszkow and 41 goals for Lech Poznan, both Polish teams.

Second-place In ten league games, Barcelona have collected 25 points. While Villarreal have 15 points and are in ninth place.

Leaders Real Madrid are leading the table with 28 points, after recording 9 wins and a draw in 10 games which means they are yet to suffer a defeat.
