Arsenal continued their perfect Europa League run after a narrow 1-0 victory over the Dutch side.

The win came late into the second half of the game and must have angered PSV Eindhoven fans, who started the chaos by firing flares at the Gunners’ supporters, who were making their way out of the stadium.

According to reports, the away side started the melee by ripping the seats and chucking flares at the home side.

The stand was engulfed in smoke after the flares consumed the atmosphere in the stadium.

The PSV fans who are blamed for the incident numbered up to 3000, according to reports.

They were angered after the visitors nearly dragged the match to a 0-0 draw and would have gotten something out of the game before Xhaka’s winner, a great header from a corner kick to give the Gunners the lead.

Meanwhile, PSV were also unbeaten in the group despite dropping points against Bodo Glimt.

After the narrow loss to Arsenal, they are seated second in the group with 7 points, three points ahead of third-placed team Bodo Glimt.

The loss by the Van Nistelrooy-led team means that they are far from securing their place in the competition’s knockout round.

Meanwhile, Arsenal steered themselves to safety, securing their place in the knockout round after garnering a maximum of 12 points from four matches.

The situation is very dicey for PSV as it stands.

At least a point at the Emirates would have boosted their hopes of making it to the next round of the competition.

They gave a good account of themselves in the game, holding the in-form Mikel Arteta team to bear and launching threatening counterattacks whenever they win possession.

However, they could only hold on until the 70th minute of play as Granit Xhaka broke the goal deadlock and inflicted the team with their first defeat in the competition so far this season.

The 70th-minute goal by Xhaka separated the side, condemning the visitors to defeat after the final whistle.

The result did not sit well with the 3000 traveling PSV fans, who started the chaos as Arsenal fans began to troop out of the Stadium after the game.

The PSV fans in the away end could then be seen forcibly removing the seats and chucking them.

Riot police intervened to separate the two sets of supporters and diffuse the situation.

Uefa are set to investigate and could hit PSV with a fine after what was an ugly end to another positive night for the North London outfit.

As of the time of filing this report, the two teams are yet to officially react to the incident, and no casualties have been confirmed so far.

PSV Eindhoven will host a return leg of the game on Thursday, 27th October in the Netherlands.

It will be a make or mar game for the Dutch giants depending on the outcome of the match between Bodo Glimt and Zurich.
